Team Leaders
Founder & President, Editor-in-Chief
Erin Marissa Russell cut her editorial teeth at college news publications The Brookhaven Courier (Brookhaven College) and The Lasso (Texas Woman's University). She also served as editor-in-chief of college literary journals The Daedalian (TWU) and Moulin Review (Brookhaven), which she founded. After graduating TWU with honors and a bachelor's in English, minor in intermedia art, Russell spent a few years in the workforce. After a successful year of freelancing, she launched Russell Gibson Content to connect talented writers and editors with opportunities in their fields of interest and experience.

Sales Director & Project Manager
Matt Gibson is the Sales Director and Project Manager for Russell Gibson Content. He is also a freelance author, poet, songwriter, and musician, who has been performing for over a decade. He and his wife, the founder of RGC, coined the term Speleofolklore to describe the work that is their main collaborative focus: the study of the legends and lore involving caves of the world. They are currently co-writing a novel about the legends tied to Cascade Caverns in Bourne, Texas. His other writing interests include sports, arts and entertainment, health, travel, and nature.

Sarah Abbe-Dowd serves RGC as Content Marketing Manager, as well as freelance writer, editor, and fact checker. She earned her BA and MA from Tarleton State University and Texas Woman’s University, respectively. Abbe-Dowd worked as graduate teaching assistant, and writing consultant for TWU’s writing center, and is currently a middle school English teacher for Corsicana ISD. When not teaching the youth of America or writing for Russell Gibson Content, she can be found cuddling her pets, Bomber and Lulu, and hanging out with her husband couch surfing Netflix documentaries. She has varied interests in all things literary, musical, educational and political, as well as entertainment, travel, and lifestyle.

Nicholas Bostick is a freelance writer from Dallas, Texas. His work has been published in local publications such as the Dallas Observer, Pegasus News and DallasNews.com. Bostick also works for Russell Gibson Content, providing researched articles for a number of other publications. He's worked as a professional writer since 2013 and was a national award-winning student journalist and editor. He enjoys working on pieces related to news, arts and entertainment, health, technology, and nature.

As Russell Gibson Content's Editorial Training Specialist, she creates reference materials and works one-on-one with writers to bring out the best in their work. Her particular interests are in education, arts and entertainment, lifestyle, health, and travel.

Administrative Support Manager, Web Designer
Brieanna Casey earned her BA and MA degrees in English and education from Texas Woman’s University, where she started her writing career as senior copyeditor and writer for the university newspaper, The Lasso, and literary journal, The Daedalian. She continued as contributing writer for the Denton Record-Chronicle and Lantana Living publications. Casey has taught first-year composition, developmental writing, and technical writing at the college level, and now she is a middle school English teacher and freelance writer, editor, and web designer, on topics related to education, science and technology, health, feminism, and the arts and entertainment.

Shauna Crawford is currently earning her master’s degree in social work from the University of Texas at Arlington. She enjoys attending live music performances, and reading-- especially about music, and arts and crafts. Her interests include news, social policy, the arts, and the nonprofit sector, and projects related to politics, arts and entertainment, and travel.

Ruth Gulley is a writer and contributing editor for Russell Gibson Content. Gulley graduated from the University of North Texas in 2013 where she studied anthropology and English. She now resides in Virginia where she funnels her passion for people and words into her writing. In her spare time she enjoys cooking, cuddling with her cat, and watching The Office on repeat. Her writing interests lie in news, politics, lifestyle, health, and culinary arts.

Megan Smith Mauk is the Content Production Coordinator, freelance writer and editor for Russell Gibson Content. She studied journalism at Brookhaven College, where she was writer, copyeditor, and assignment editor for The Brookhaven Courier, and its literary magazine, The Windmill. In 2016, Mauk was awarded first place for “Essay in a Literary Magazine,” by the Texas Intercollegiate Press Association, and first place for “Non-Journalism Story,” by the Texas Community College Journalism Association, for her personal essay, “Fighting For Us.” Originally from Texas, she lives at Langley Air Force Base, Virginia with her husband, and their cat and dog. Mauk is a polymath-- studying multiple fields including environmental science, human rights, death care and culture, Esperanto,
poetry, cooking and baking, and more.

She was editor-in-chief of the student newspaper, The Lasso, for a year and was a page editor and reporter for three. In her senior year, Nickles won the Sarah McIntire Award for Outstanding Capstone for her project titled, The Lasso: A Brief History, 1914-2017. Now, she looks forward to practicing her art and learning as she writes every day on topics including news, arts and entertainment, lifestyle, health, travel, and the environment.
